℟. And with thy spirit.
Let us pray.
O God, Who taught vast numbers of the Gentiles by the preaching of the blessed Apostle Paul, grant we beseech You that, by honoring his memory, we may enjoy the benefit of his patronal intercession.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
℟. Amen.

Let us pray.
Pro St. Peter
O God, Who, when giving blessed Peter, Your Apostle, the keys of the heavenly kingdom bestowed on him the power of binding and loosing, grant that by the help of his intercession we may be delivered from the bonds of our sins.
Commemoration Die IV infra Octavam SSmi Cordis Jesu
O God, Who in the Heart of Your Son, wounded by our sins, mercifully lavish upon us the infinite riches of love, grant, we beseech You, that as we offer Him the faithful service of our devotion, we may also show forth fitting reparation.
Commemoration Die septima infra Octavam Nativitatis S. Joannis Baptistæ
O God, Who made this a day most worthy of our celebration because of blessed John; grant Your people the grace of spiritual joys and direct the minds of all the faithful into the path of eternal salvation.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
℟. Amen.

From the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matt 10:16-22
At that time, Jesus said unto His disciples: Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. And so on.

Homily by St. John Chrysostom, Patriarch of Constantinople.
34 on Matthew.
It is as though He said Let not your heart be troubled although when I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, I bid you be harmless as doves for, albeit, if I would, I could now make things otherwise, and suffer not that ye should have to bear anything grievous, neither be at the mercy of the wolves as are other sheep, but on the contrary, could make you more dreadful to the lions than the lions to you nevertheless, thus must it needs be, and yourselves it will make more glorious, and My power it will wholly show forth. For thus was it that afterwards the Same Lord said unto Paul: My grace is sufficient for thee, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor. xii. 9. It is I that have made you to be what ye are.

Post Communion
P. The Lord be with you.
S. And with thy spirit.
Let us pray.
Having received Your sacrament, O Lord, we implore You, that what we have celebrated in honor of St. Paul, Your Apostle, may by his intercession benefit us as a healing remedy.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
℟. Amen.

Let us pray.
Pro St. Peter
O Lord, may the gift we offer bring us joy, that as we praise Your wondrous work in Your Apostle Peter, so through him may we share Your generous forgiveness.
Commemoration Die IV infra Octavam SSmi Cordis Jesu
May Your sacrament, O Lord Jesus, give us holy zeal, so that, seeing the sweetness of Your most loving Heart, we may learn to despise the things of earth and love those of heaven.
Commemoration Die septima infra Octavam Nativitatis S. Joannis Baptistæ
May Your Church, O God, rejoice at the birth of blessed John the Baptist, through whom she knew the author of her own rebirth, Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Who livest and reignest with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end.
℟. Amen
