Today is the feast of St. Blaise, B & M, under the 1954 (simple) rubrics.


Mass: At the parochial/conventual Mass, Mass of the impeded 4th Sunday after Epiphany. Green. Omit Gloria. Gradual/Alleluia. Omit Credo. Common Preface. Benedicamus Domino. Commemoration of St. Blaise, B & M. 3rd prayer A cunctis for the intercession of the saints.


At private (low) Masses, the festal Mass of St. Blaise may be offered. Mass Sacerdotes Dei of a martyr bishop outside Paschaltide. Red. Gloria. Gradual/Alleluia. Omit Credo. Common Preface. Ite. Commemoration of the 4th Sunday after Epiphany. 3rd prayer A cunctis for the intercession of the saints.


Private (low) votive Masses/daily Requiems are prohibited today under the 1954 rubrics.

Matins of 1 nocturn of 3 lessons (I & II = Incipit Epistola ad Philippenses [transferred from the impeded 4th Sunday after Epiphany] with responsories of the Sunday, III = of St. Blaise). Te Deum. O God, Who gladden us with the yearly festival of blessed Blaise, Your Martyr and Bishop, mercifully grant that, as we venerate the anniversary of his martyrdom, we may also rejoice in his protection.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
