Commemoration St. Valentine, Priest and Martyr
Grant, we beseech You, almighty God, that we who celebrate the anniversary of the death of Your holy Martyr, Valentine, may by his intercession be delivered from all evils that threaten us.

To the Holy Spirit
O God, unto Whom each heart is open, to Whom each desire speaks and from Whom no secret lies hidden, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the infusion of the Holy Spirit, that we may be found worthy to perfectly love and fittingly praise You.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
R. Amen.

Continuation + of the Holy Gospel according to Luke
R. Glory be to Thee, O Lord.
Luke 11:27-28
At that time, as Jesus was speaking to the multitudes, a certain woman from the crowd lifted up her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that nursed You. But He said, Rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it.

From the book of St. Jerome, Priest, against Jovian
Apologia to Panmachius to the Book against Jovian, at end
Christ is virgin, and the mother of our virgin Christ remains forever virgin, the Virgin Mother. For Jesus entered the world, as he entered the upper room, “the doors being closed”, and in his sepulcher, which had been hewn out of the hard rock, “no one had yet been laid”, nor was anyone else laid in it afterward. “An enclosed garden a fountain sealed” was Mary. And from that fountain, according to Joel, flows the stream that waters the torrent either of “ropes” or of “thorns”. The ropes would be the sins by which we had been bound down; the thorns would be those which choke the householder's seed. Mary is the eastern gate, of which Ezechiel speaks, always closed and luminous, whether concealing in itself or bringing forth from itself the Holy of holies. She is the gate through which the Sun of justice and our High Priest according to the order of Melchisedech goes in and out.

Post Communion
P. The Lord be with you.
S. And with thy spirit.
Let us pray.
Having received the aids conducive to our salvation, O Lord, we beseech You, grant that we may everywhere be protected by the patronage of blessed Mary, ever Virgin, in veneration of whom we have made these offerings to Your Majesty.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
R. Amen.

Let us pray.
Commemoration St. Valentine, Priest and Martyr
May the heavenly sacrament, O Lord, renew our souls and minds, so that by the intercession of Your blessed Martyr Valentine we may feel the benefit of the worship we perform.

To the Holy Spirit
May the infusion of the Holy Spirit cleanse our hearts, O Lord, and may He render them fruitful by sprinkling His dew deep within us.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
R. Amen.
