Today is the feast of St. Cecilia, V & M, under the 1954 (double) and 1962 (III class) rubrics.
Mass: Proper Mass. Red. Gloria. Gradual/Alleluia. Omit Credo. Common Preface. Celebrant bows his head at the mention of St. Cecilia in the Canon. Ite. No commemorations.
Office: Under 1954, ordinary office. Red. Matins of 3 nocturns of 9 lessons (1st nocturn = De virginibus from the common of virgins with proper responsories). Te Deum. Proper psalms and antiphons at Matins. At Lauds, psalms of Sunday with proper antiphons. All else proper. Proper Benedictus antiphon. Proper collect. No commemorations at Lauds. Omit suffrage. O God, Who year by year dost gladden thy people by the solemn feast of thy blessed Virgin and Martyr Cecilia, grant unto us, we beseech thee, not only devoutly to observe the same, but also to follow after the pattern of her godly conversation.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
